A seasoned legal practitioner and long-standing political figure, Barrister Tajudeen Adebola Amusa, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 01 in the 2027 general elections, following his exit from the Ajidagba Campaign Organisation (ACO).
Amusa, who revealed that he had stepped down his ambition three times in 2014, 2019, and 2023 in the interest of party unity, said he is now fully prepared to pursue the mandate.
Speaking on his decision, he disclosed that he had undertaken extensive consultations both within and outside the political space, engaging widely with associates and stakeholders. “I have done my consultations internally and externally. I fully understand what I am going into,” he said.
Confirming his exit from ACO, Amusa noted that he had formally informed its leadership, including Ajidagba, who he said gave his blessing, remarking that “no one can cover the destiny of another.”
In a formal letter of notification addressed to leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Amusa expressed gratitude to God and a deep sense of responsibility, stating that his decision followed careful reflection on the needs of his constituency.
He described his ambition as one driven by service rather than personal gain, emphasizing that Ajeromi Ifelodun 01 requires “tested experience, proven capacity, and the ability to translate opportunities into tangible results.”
With over three decades of experience in legal practice and development, Amusa traced his journey from humble beginnings in Ajegunle to becoming a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His academic background includes studies at Kwara State Polytechnic and the University of Sokoto, as well as a Master’s degree in Maritime and Commercial Law from Lagos State University. He is also currently pursuing doctoral studies.
Beyond his legal career, he has established himself as a community-focused entrepreneur and philanthropist. His businesses, including water production ventures, have provided employment to over 50 residents of Ajegunle for more than two decades. Through the Barrister Tajudeen Amusa Charity Foundation, he has consistently supported party members and vulnerable cconstituents with annual palliative initiatives.
Politically, Amusa’s career spans multiple progressive platforms from the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) through SDP, AD, AC, ACN, and now APC, demonstrating longstanding loyalty to progressive ideals. He reiterated that his previous decisions to step down were made in deference to party leaders and in the overall interest of unity and progress.
“Today, I believe it is my turn,” he declared. “I have listened. I have waited. I have served. Now I am ready.”
Outlining his vision for Ajeromi Ifelodun, Amusa pledged to prioritize improved security, stronger institutions, quality education, healthcare delivery, youth and women empowerment, and infrastructural development. He also expressed his commitment to sponsoring impactful legislation that will enhance the welfare of constituents.
He concluded with an appeal for the support of party leaders and stakeholders, affirming his readiness to engage, listen, and serve.
Amusa’s entry into the race is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Ajeromi Ifelodun as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
