Supporters of Rt. Hon. Kolawole Taiwo Musbau (HKT) have strongly pushed back against claims that the former lawmaker lacks electoral value, describing such assertions as unfounded and disconnected from grassroots reality.
In a rebuttal issued today, the HKT camp pointed to the massive turnout recorded during his declaration on Saturday, April 11, 2026, as clear evidence of his enduring popularity across Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal Constituency.
According to the group, the declaration event was not only marked by a large crowd but also by an overwhelming show of affection and acceptance, particularly from both youths and elderly residents who thronged the venue.
They noted that one of the most striking scenes from the event was the excitement that greeted HKT’s appearance, as supporters, young and old eagerly surged forward to interact with him, exchange pleasantries, and capture the moment through photographs and selfies.
“The enthusiasm was organic and undeniable. People didn’t just come out; they rushed to identify with him,” the statement noted, adding that such spontaneous public engagement reflects genuine political connection rather than staged support.
The declaration, held under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), drew thousands of party faithful, community leaders, market stakeholders, artisans, and youth groups, creating a carnival-like atmosphere.
HKT supporters argued that the turnout and visible excitement directly contradict narratives questioning his relevance, insisting that electoral value is ultimately determined by the people.
They further challenged other aspirants to test their acceptance by engaging openly with constituents across the streets of Ajeromi Ifelodun, maintaining that recognition and accessibility remain the true measures of political strength.
Party loyalists also emphasized that the crowd was not driven by financial inducement or crowd members of other groups but by genuine admiration for HKT’s leadership, describing him as a “people’s servant” credited with attracting numerous developmental projects to the constituency.
In a statement by the HKT Media Crew following the declaration, appreciation was extended to God Almighty and to prominent leaders across the constituency for their support. Special recognition has been given to the APC unbiased leader Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Apex Leader of Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal Constituency and Lagos West Senatorial District; adorable Chief Mrs. Iretiola Oluwa (Yeye); Prince Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan, Apex Leader, Ifelodun LCDA; and Alhaji Moruf Bayewu (Ologbojo), politically well versed Director General of the HKT Campaign Team.
Also acknowledged were Hon. Lukmon Saad Olumoh (AJIF 01), Hon. Sabur Oluwa (AJIF 02), Hon. Ladi Balogun, General Manager of Lagferry, and Hon. Kamaldeen Bayewu Ayinde, former Chairman of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission. Party chairmen from both local governments, Alhaji Adio and Mr. Owhegbe, alongside the G32 leadership group, including Alhaja Moriliat Arogundade, were equally recognized.
The Vice Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Alhaja Ojora Adejiyan Adetoun, who represented the Executive Chairman, Dr. Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, was also present at the event, alongside councilors, supervisory councilors, special advisers, traditional leaders including Baales and Baloguns, market leaders such as Iyalojas and Iyalodes, and artisans.
Further appreciation was extended to the Ajeromi Ifelodun executive members, the Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government team in Lagos, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) for their support.
Youth participation was notably strong, with representation from NYCN Ifelodun and Ajeromi Ifelodun branches, Alayabiagba Youths, Nosamu Youths, Iyalode Youths, Coconut Youths, Tolu JMJ Youths, Olodi Apapa Youths, campus groups, Imam youths, Ojo Road youths, Alaba Oro youths, Balogun youths, Fagbemi youths, and other progressive youth organizations across the constituency.
The statement concluded with appreciation to all party members from Ajeromi and Ifelodun for their unwavering support, as the campaign slogan, “HKT 2027… Ileri Oluwa Nte Siwaju,” resonated strongly.
With the April 11 declaration now being cited as evidence of widespread grassroots appeal, observers say the political conversation around Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal Constituency is increasingly shifting ahead of the 2027 general election.
