The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting grassroots-driven initiatives capable of promoting community development, youth mobilisation, and political participation ahead of the Lagos State governorship election scheduled for next year.
Mayor Okeowo made this known while receiving the Coordinator of the E-KOH Initiative in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Comrade Ibrahim Hussein, during an official courtesy visit and familiarisation meeting at the council secretariat.
The visit forms part of ongoing grassroots consultations and mobilisation efforts by the E-KOH Initiative, an independent campaign movement established to support the candidacy of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who recently emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Lagos governorship election.
Speaking during the meeting, Comrade Hussein stated that the visit was aimed at formally introducing the initiative to the council leadership and discussing possible areas of collaboration in grassroots political engagement, youth mobilisation, and community-oriented programmes.
According to him, the initiative remains committed to deepening political participation at the grassroots while promoting the developmental vision and leadership philosophy of the APC governorship candidate across Lagos State.
He added that the engagement marked the beginning of a strategic working relationship with stakeholders within the LCDA towards strengthening grassroots coordination ahead of the gubernatorial election.
In his response, Mayor Okeowo welcomed the initiative and commended efforts geared towards grassroots political awareness, community development, and inclusive participation in the democratic process.
The council chairman reiterated his commitment to initiatives capable of contributing to social development, youth empowerment, and community advancement across Ifelodun LCDA, stressing that constructive grassroots engagement remains critical to sustainable governance and political stability.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the E-KOH Initiative has officially confirmed the appointment of Comrade Ibrahim Hussein as the Coordinator for Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated June 21, 2026, and jointly signed by the Convener/Director-General of the initiative, Comrade Badmus Olawale (Liberty), and the General Secretary, Hon. Esther Ojo.
According to the letter, Hussein’s appointment was based on his leadership qualities, grassroots mobilization capacity, and commitment to the objectives of the movement.
As LCDA Coordinator, he is expected to oversee all activities of the E-KOH Initiative within Ajeromi-Ifelodun, mobilize members and stakeholders in support of the APC governorship project, and work closely with ward coordinators and other officials to ensure effective implementation of programmes and mobilisation strategies.
The initiative further stated that Hussein would provide periodic reports and feedback to the state leadership while promoting the ideals and political vision of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat throughout the LCDA.
The appointment takes immediate effect pending any future review by the leadership of the movement.
The leadership of the E-KOH Initiative expressed confidence in Hussein’s ability to discharge his responsibilities with dedication, integrity, and excellence, describing the appointment as well-deserved.
