The education-focused administration of Hon Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), received fresh recognition on Tuesday as the council hosted a Federal Government education support programme at Layeni Primary School, Ifelodun, further underscoring the chairman’s commitment to advancing quality education and academic development within the community.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the council chairman, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Bolaji Mudashiru Ayinde, reiterated the administration’s commitment to improving educational standards and providing a conducive learning environment for pupils across the council area.
Ayinde stated that the Okeowo administration has continued to prioritize education through the provision of learning facilities, support initiatives, and other people-oriented programmes designed to strengthen teaching and learning in public schools.
According to him, the council remains determined to sustain investments in the education sector as part of efforts to promote human capital development and secure a brighter future for children within the LCDA.
He also called on parents, teachers, and residents to continue supporting the administration’s educational initiatives, stressing that community participation and collective responsibility are critical to achieving sustainable growth in the sector.
The programme attracted the attendance of top government officials and education stakeholders, including the Councillor representing Ward B, Prince Ajibola Ojora; Supervisor for Education, Hon. Rahmon Ajao; Supervisor for Legislative Matters, Comrade Ayodeji Saliu; Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaja Idiat I. Bode; Head of Department of Education, Mrs. Yetonde; Tope Okeseni, the Education Secretary of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government; and the representative of the Programme Manager, Hon. Tolani Martins.
Stakeholders at the event described the programme as another demonstration of the growing collaboration between the Federal Government and the Ifelodun LCDA administration in promoting access to quality education and improving opportunities for school pupils.
Speaking on the significance of the programme, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Kamaldeen Iyanda Abdulsalam, said the initiative further reinforced Mayor Okeowo’s commitment to policies and programmes aimed at advancing educational development and improving the welfare of residents within the council area.
