… Ifelodun cedes Councilors to leaders
The political bull in Hon Fatai Ajidagba, the immediate past Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, manifested at a recent meeting of the Mandate group in the area. The Lagos West leader of the group, Hon Kolawole Taiwo, had informed the well-attended gathering of every plan to fine-tune the group since both the Mandate group and the Justice forum have been at each other’s throats.
He explained that since the Mandate group is a machinery team of President Bola Tinubu, the leadership should look for a suitable name that will project the group’s ideals. They initially proposed the name Sustainable Hope Agenda, but later discarded it to adopt ‘Tinubu 2027; Loyalty group’.
When it was time for Fatai Orombo Ajidagba to air his opinion at the meeting, he left his seat under the canopy to where everyone could see him, and in his bold characteristics, he expressed surprise that the leadership could be changing names and never telling the members.
He, however, joined other leaders of the group in the area in appealing to both chairmanship and councilorship aspirants to re-examine their aspirations before rushing to buy forms.
Hon Saad Olumoh, the present Constituency representative at the Lagos House of Assembly, warned the various aspirants to avoid rancour at this electioneering season.
The first Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun local government and a member of the Ifelodun G17 cautioned,”Every aspirant should do a rethink from now till Saturday because there’s no sense going to waste that huge sum of money buying a form.
In another development, following the Ifelodun Apex leadership meeting yesterday, the leaders extensively discussed the need for a primary election. Hon Kolawole Taiwo and Fatai Orombo Ajidagba were on the same page in support of the Primary election while other leaders argued that it would be a preferred option if the outcome would be allowed to count especially as section XI of the party guideline states that, “Notwithstanding, the provisions of the guidelines or any other rules of the party, the decision of the State Electoral Committee(SEC) acting on behalf of the State Working Committee(SWC) shall be final and binding on all aspirants, officers and organs of the party in respect of the Primary election”.
The other leaders argued that any primary election would be an exercise in futility since an exercise that will promote brickery in the party could still be overruled by the party. While their meeting continues today, the leaders have shared five wards, with the remaining two to be resolved in today” meeting.
