In Nigeria’s Ogoni land, communities continue to resist the return of oil exploitation decades after expelling Shell. In Ecuador’s Yasuní National Park, defenders of nature urge the world to “keep the oil in the ground.” Together, they symbolize a vision for a future beyond fossil fuels.
Through side events, the People’s Summit, and press conferences such as “Yasunize, Ogonize, and Depollute for Restoration and Dignity” (Nov 14) and “Stop the Continent Grab—Debunking REDD+ and Carbon Markets as False Solutions” (Nov 19), HOMEF and its partners will confront greenwashing narratives and uplift community-led climate solutions rooted in justice, dignity, and respect for the Earth.
