Hon. Ogidan Azeez Owolabi, Executive Chairman of Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has successfully mediated a resolution among Tie and Dye artisans, bringing about lasting peace and collaboration within the local creative industry.
Demonstrating his administration’s commitment to sustainability, cultural preservation, and economic empowerment, Hon. Ogidan has introduced transformative initiatives for the Tie and Dye hub. To protect the environment, the council is promoting the adoption of an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to treat wastewater, ensuring eco-friendly practices and a healthier community.
The Chairman also announced plans to elevate the hub into a vibrant Art and Cultural Centre, featuring:
- An Art Gallery to showcase local Tie and Dye crafts and other indigenous artworks, celebrating Coker-Aguda’s rich heritage.
- A comprehensive artisan database to streamline organization, enhance recognition, and connect workers to government support and opportunities.
- Capacity-building programmes to provide training and resources, empowering artisans to thrive in a competitive market.
These efforts reflect Hon. Ogidan’s dedication to nurturing creativity, preserving cultural identity, and promoting sustainable development in Coker-Aguda, an aide said.
