The organisers of the Ajegunle Economic Summit have announced plans for the 8th edition of the annual business gathering, reaffirming their commitment to promoting entrepreneurship as a catalyst for economic development and community transformation.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ajegunle Business School, Alfred Konaughe, who is also the convener of the summit, said the initiative was established eight years ago to create a platform where entrepreneurs, business leaders, investors, and development partners can exchange ideas, build networks, and access opportunities for business growth.
According to him, the summit was conceived to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and practical opportunities by equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to succeed.
The 2026 edition is themed “Empowering Entrepreneurs, Empowering Communities,” reflecting the organisers’ belief that sustainable community development depends largely on the success of local entrepreneurs.
Konaughe noted that entrepreneurs remain critical to economic growth through job creation, wealth generation, and problem-solving, adding that strengthening small and medium-scale enterprises would contribute significantly to reducing unemployment, poverty, and crime.
He explained that participants at this year’s summit will have the opportunity to gain practical business insights from experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts, interact with potential investors and business partners, explore funding and business support opportunities, and showcase their products and services during the Business Fair and Exhibition.
The summit will also feature success stories from entrepreneurs who transformed small business ideas into thriving enterprises, offering inspiration and practical lessons for aspiring business owners.
Describing the event as more than just a conference, Konaughe said the summit has evolved into a movement aimed at building a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem capable of driving sustainable economic development across communities.
He extended an invitation to entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, students, government agencies, development organisations, and other stakeholders to participate in the event scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026.
“Every successful business creates opportunities for many others. If we are serious about tackling unemployment, poverty and insecurity, we must deliberately invest in entrepreneurship and support those willing to build businesses that create value,” he said.
The 8th Ajegunle Economic Summit will be held alongside the Business Fair and Exhibition, providing participants with opportunities to learn, network, collaborate, and explore new business prospects.
