A coalition of concerned stakeholders from the Badagry Division of Lagos State, Lagos Justice & Inclusion Network has appealed to the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider the principles of equity, justice, and inclusiveness in the choice of the party’s next governorship candidate.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described as the father and leader of the party, to ensure fair representation across all divisions of the state , particularly the Badagry Division, with specific attention to Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.
According to the group, since the return of democratic governance in 1999, Lagos State has witnessed governors emerging from other divisions, while Ajeromi-Ifelodun remains conspicuously unrepresented in the state’s top political leadership.
“It is both timely and fair that our great party gives due consideration to Ajeromi-Ifelodun in the next political dispensation,” the statement read. “Our people are industrious, politically conscious, and blessed with visionary youths who have demonstrated competence in governance, administration, and leadership.”
The group emphasized that ensuring equitable distribution of political opportunities would not only promote unity and inclusiveness but also strengthen democracy and sustain the developmental strides for which Lagos State is known.
“We believe that fairness and equity will further consolidate the progress achieved under our great party and ensure that Lagos continues to lead as a model of good governance and excellence,” the statement added.
