Nigerians had continued to blame ignorance, lack of training on cardiopulmonary technique, and poor Medical facilities in the Country for the sudden death of A.O. Akinyele. This popular hotelier slumped and died during his wife’s 60th birthday celebration at an event centre in the Egbeda area of Lagos, Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Mr Akinyele, who was speaking on stage during the event, suddenly slumped and was rushed for resuscitation in a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Immediately she left, he slumped,” a trending video report indicates.
@OlayinkaLere claims in his reaction,” this man would have had a greater than 50% chance at living, if he was in a functional country, especially as this happened during the day, with people around him, but he stood little to no chance in Nigeria, this is a danger of a failed healthcare
“Many have expressed shock over his death. He was described as an amiable man,” the report further said.
