The fact-finding visit followed the House’s adjournment of proceedings on Thursday, November 13, to enable councilors verify issues raised in a petition submitted by the mechanical technicians against the marble dealers.

At exactly 3:05 p.m., the seven councilors arrived at the location, where executives of both associations were on ground to receive them. The delegation was led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Ilesanmi Elijah Oluwatosin, and the Deputy Leader, Hon. Olajide Adekola Sarumi.

After inspecting the disputed area, Hon. Ilesanmi told newsmen that the council had gained a clear understanding of the situation.

Market Master explaining some points

“We have seen the spot, and the issues are plain and understandable,” he said. “However, all parties are to appear at the Council Secretariat on Thursday, November 20, where a consensus will be reached. We continue to appeal for calm and urge both parties to maintain peace as we work toward an amicable resolution.”

The Legislative Council is expected to issue its final decision following Thursday’s meeting.
