The quick intervention of Hon Oluwatosin Elijah Ilesanmi, Councilor representing Ward F, Ifelodun LCDA, saved the lives of a set of twins who were in the throes of death in their home at no 6. Agbamu street, Amukoko, Lagos
The twins who received hot-knifed lacerations from their stepmother were said to have been locked up in a room with the injuries for days but for divine intervention and neighbors who were alarmed by the cries of these twins.
Lagos Focus gathered that the Ifelodun LCDA lawmaker was on a walk around his constituency when he saw a crowd gathered in one of the streets, precisely around Agbamu Street. On inquiry, he was told how the woman in question had lacerated the bodies of her stepchildren (twins) and locked them up in the room for an issue nobody could confirm.
Irked by what he heard, Ilesanmi immediately swung into action as he rescued the children from their hapless stepmother and took them to the hospital for treatment. The children are presently receiving treatment at the Ifelodun Health Center and wriggling in pain.
The father of the twins Emmanuel Edun known more as Baba Caleb, has been taken to Pako police Division, Amukoko, where he is helping the police with explanations as to his wife’s motive for debasing these innocent children.
When Lagos Focus visited the compound where the unfortunate incident took place, some of the tenants refused to comment on the incident.
However, when contacted, the DPO of Pako Police Division confirmed the incident but said the suspect Mr Emmanuel is no longer in their custody as he has been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
At the health center, the HOD Pediatrics Ward D, Nurse Beatrice, and the MD said the victims are already in the care of the government and are receiving treatment “We do not expose our patients to the public” and so cannot allow access to the children who are going through severe pains”, she explained.
