The 6th Quadrennial Branch Delegate Conference of the Union was held on Thursday, 26th June 2025, at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt, River State.
The election, according to observers, ended credibly and in peace.
Most of the officers were returned to their various positions, except the Vice President and 1st Trustee. Comrade Pastor Sunday Avoseh warned Seafarers’ employers, both foreigners and Nigerians, that it is not going to be business as usual in the salary disparity between indigenous and foreign employees.

The election also saw Comrade Ezekiel Stephen, a motor man in Marine Platform, being promoted to 1st Trustee in the Branch cabinet
Pastor Sunday, in his acceptance speech, promised the seafarers that he would ensure better job opportunities and also fight for the implementation of the amendments to the International Labour Organisation(ILO) Convention MLC 2006.
In addition, he also promised to work together with other stakeholders to take the Union to greater heights.
