It seems the PDP is now ready to make a comeback as a credible opposition party in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local government after years of skirmishes and division. A former State Exco Prince Aloysius Okafor has started a reinvigorated move by poaching members from other groups to his new caucus ‘Lagos For Lagos’ and forming a new local government-based wider leadership structure.
Prince Aloysius Okafor, a Machiavellian political power player who was formerly in the camp of Hon Rita Orji, a former House of Representatives member, has now cross-carpeted to the camp of the new sheriff in town Hon Dr Abdul-Azez Olajide Adediran aka Jandor.
Lagos Focus News reliably gathered that Prince Okafor has had several meetings with some stakeholders and Jandor as he has been mandated to build a new leadership front from the remnants of the party following the devastating impact of the last general election on the structure of PDP in the local government
Prince Okafor in his efforts to build a new leadership structure has begun poaching members from other groups sidelining some of the former leaders like Evangelist Israel Ogunrinde, Alhaji Aare Fakunle, Hon Rita Orji, and members of the embattled Chief Francis Chima group.
A competent source told this newspaper that Prince Okafor has poached five members of the Ogunrinde group into his new leadership team. They include: Chief Frank Ukor, Chief Moshood Ajiwe, Charles Itama, and Sunny Mene.
Other leaders are from Lagos For Lagos Jandor group and they are: Ovie Najomo, Richard Enwelem, David Babalola, and Ganiu Adedeji.
Richard Enwelem was elected the new LGA secretary of the LGA Apex leadership and the LGA Chairman for Lagos for Lagos, while Prince Okafor is now the Apex LGA leader.
It is not very clear what the reaction of the other caucuses would be as all efforts to see Evang Ogunrinde, Aare Taju Balogun, Alhaji Fakunle, and other groups for their reaction were not fruitful.
