The Presidency has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, described the viral claim as a fabrication intended to create confusion and discord within the government.
According to the statement, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Principal Private Secretary to the President, continues to perform his duties in his current capacity.
“At no time has Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola replaced Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff. Both officials remain in their respective offices,” the Presidency stated.
The Presidency urged Nigerians to disregard the report in its entirety, noting that it was the handiwork of mischievous individuals bent on spreading fake news.
It also advised media organisations and social media users to always verify information from credible and official sources before publishing or sharing, stressing the importance of responsible journalism in safeguarding public trust.
The statement was signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and dated December 25, 2025.
