The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has advised cooking gas operators to obey all safety rules and regulations to avert incessant fire disasters.
Okeowo made this call during a meeting with the Cooking Gas operators in Ifelodun LCDA. ” I am disturbed by the frequent rate of fire disasters in our local council due to poor handling of gas by retailers. Gas should not be something anybody can sell in a residential area because of the potential danger”, he said.

The chairman continued, “Let me also use this medium to appeal to house owners or shop owners to ask critical questions before letting out their property to tenants. We need to do a background check on whoever is occupying our property, every gas seller must obtain the necessary permit from the relevant agencies of government”.
Recently we purchased a multi-million naira modern fire fighting truck and donated it to Lagos State Fire Service, old Ojo Road, but the challenges we brought upon the fire service officials are overwhelming. Any one of you who operates in an illegal location should close the shop immediately because a Task Force will be constituted to force you to comply with the rules.
