Hon Amudalat Temitope Oloola,Omoluabi001, God’s own project; is the Convener of Asiwaju Youth Movement (AYM) and the Coordinator of Adebule Youths Ambassador ( AYA), Ajeromi/Ifelodun and had also won the Award of the Youngest Entrprenuer. She talked about her journey into politics in this exclusive interview with Edward Ndukwe
Let’s meet you
By the grace of God, I am Hon AmudalatTemitope Oloola,Omoluabi001. I am the Convener of Asiwaju Youth Movement,(AYM), and the Coordinator of Adebule Youths Ambassador, (AYA), Ajeromi/Ifelodun.
I am also the Coordinator of APC Unity Forum, Land is Green ( Ajeromi/Ifelodun). Member and Auditor General ( No Woman, No Nation) Ajeromi / Ifelodun. I am also the Coordinator of Progressive Young Women Forum,(PYWF).
Currently, I am the CEO/ Founder, Tehmis Point International and the Ajeromi/ Ifelodun Coordinator for Rights AM, Ambassador. Social Secretary – National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ifelodun Branch.
I am the Convener of Asiwaju Youth Movement, AYM, it was the platform that we used to support our symbol, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential election and we equally used the platform to support all our APC candidates in the last general election.
The group is in all the 57 local governments and LCDAs in Lagos State. In all these areas, the group has coordinators and representatives.
I am also the youth representative for Ajeromi for Mama Lagos West, who was our symbol for the Senate for Lagos West. Throughout that election time and now, if Mama Lagos West wants to send anything to the youths, she usually routes it through me and I have always delivered her messages to our amiable youths.
I am also the Coordinator to this great platform, Progressive Young Women Forum and the platform is a national body implying that the group exists in all the states of Nigeria and all the local governments too. The founder of the group is Hon Stella Okotete, our Lagos state president is Hon Habibat Omowunmi Ogbara and our state representative is Ms Moremi Ojodu. I am the Coordinator for Ajeromi /Ifelodun local government.
I am also the coordinator for SABAT in Ajeromi Ifelodun and so many other political groups
I am the daughter of Chief Aremu Oladipupo Olola, the Bale of Aiyetoro. I am a true daughter of Ajeromi, I was born at Layenka, Ojo Lane, off Layenka.
I am a community person, I engage with youths in the community, and with the help of God, I have been able to organize different community development projects both in Ajeromi and Ifelodun LCDA,Oshodi Isolo,Mushin, and several other local governments in Lagos state.
I am the Founder and CEO of Temis Points Int’l and what we do here is strictly vocational training. We train the youths and so far so good. Most of all our trainings have been free. It’s meant to help the youths and the elderly people who are ready to learn a new vocation.
We have been doing very well at Temis Point Int’l and very soon, we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary of community development in projects and impacts.
Tell us when you conceived the idea of contesting for the Ajeromi Chairmanship position or were you talked into it.
When I declared my intent to run for the council chairmanship, people were asking me whether I am coming out as a way to lobby for a political appointment or just for people to know me. I have often told those who care to know that I do not joke with my time or with my efforts.
By my nature, if I wanted a political appointment, I would simply go for it, and by the special grace of God, my ambition is to become the chairman of Ajeromi Local government and it shall be granted.
It is at this juncture that I want to appreciate our party leaders and all the political leaders in Ajeromi Ifelodun local government, especially Hon Dr Ajijola, the first Council Chairman of Ajeromi/ Ifelodun local government, Hon Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, the APC Apex leader and Hon Kamal Ayinde Bayewu.
When did you join politics?
I have been learning politics since childhood because I believe in the truism that politics is everywhere, whether in our homes or school, and as a community person, I have been involved in politics.
I have supported and worked for all the candidates of APC and I played my part to ensure they win at various elections. I am coming out now because that is what my spirit asked to do and by the grace of God, it shall be granted.
How was your growing up?
My growing up in Ajegunle has been so sweet because my parents stay here and have property here. I can still remember vividly when we played sand games in our community as little children.
People that known me while growing up, know me as an easygoing person, very lively and jovial. I do not underestimate anybody. I accord everyone their respect.
Are you not frightened by the caliber of people aspiring for the chairman’s seat?
I am not frightened by the caliber of people filing out for the chairmanship position. All of them are my egbos (seniors) and brothers. I can never fight any one of them and they cannot also fight me.
It is the zeal in me that is firing me up and in strongest terms, there is nothing bigger than me. I know my strength and capacity. I started at the age of 17 years to do my community work and God has made it so easy for me.
In some of our trainings, we have about more than 800 people per session and most times, I feel baffled how I was able to accomplish that. This has been my reassurance that God is with me.
I am also into humanitarian services and with the help of God, I have honestly touched lives positively. Politics as well as my vocational and humanitarian services are tasking in nature. I have trained more than 10,000 people. In some cases after the free training, we take from our purse or we write to some philanthropists to support in acquiring some tools for them. In Mushin local government area, we have trained more than 1, 800 people and I have partnered with the Ministry of Youth, Alausa, Ikeja, in youth training.
So how would you assess the past council Chairmen?
Honestly, all our past Chairmen have done well to the best of their abilities, but I have a blueprint of what I want to do for the good people of Ajeromi, if God grants me the grace to be on the council chairman’s seat.
Apart from the traditional duty of creating and maintaining good roads, I will prioritize the provision of good drinking water because water is a big problem for my people in Ajeromi. In addition, my empowerment of youths will take another dimension and we will not abandon the elderly as we have programs for them because we cannot afford to leave them remembering what some elders do during the elections, you see some of them ensuring they cast their votes against all odds.
