Former Senate President Senator David Mark is to lead the opposition party African Democratic Congress, which brought some of the decampees from the People’s Democratic Party, and other opposition parties.
Led by former Vice President and former Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election, the powerful coalition emerged as part of the move to unseat the APC government led by President Bola Tinubu.
The new coalition led to the stepping down of the former ADC chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, and his entire executive. The new ADC executive is led by Senator David Mark as the acting national chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s acting national secretary.
The meeting, which was held at the Yar’adua’ adua centre in Abuja, saw in attendance political juggernauts, especially from the PDP.
Some of the politicians at the epoch-making event include Peter Obi, Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election.
Other attendees include: Mallam Nasir El Rufai, Senator Dino Melaye, former member of the National Assembly; a former Minister of Youth and Sports; Solomon Dalong; Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam; Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP), a former Emeka Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.), among others
