The Alayabiagba community and its environs in Ajeromi Ifelodun local government will not stop thanking their stars for the opportunity to have a reputable and caring company like NASCON in their domain. Being a good neighbor whether as an individual or organization is a habit for those who desire mutual growth and development in their community. NASCON Allied Industries Plc is a Nigeria-based company engaged in processing raw salt into refined, edible, and graded salt. The Company’s products include salt, seasoning, and spices.
NASCON Allied Industries PLC, a subsidiary of the Dangote group has been a good neighbor to her host communities empowering community residents through various means; education, business setups, training, and physical sighting of different projects and amenities lacking in the community including provision of overhead water projects. This is because it has set out with a vision to be passionate about the quality of life of the general populace and giving high returns to its stakeholders and also has a mission to touch the lives of people by providing their basic needs.
Since her entrance into Alayabiagba in Ajeromi Ifelodun local government, in the year 2020, NASCON has been living true to her Corporate Social Responsibility, providing economic benefits to the Alayabiagba community (salt village) in which it operates. They have carried out noble and giant projects for the development of the community.
In March 2023, they magnanimously empowered 40 women according to the company’s Head, of HSE & Sustainability, Dieseye Oba, “When you empower a woman, you are building a nation”. The 40 women had their businesses kick-started with sufficient products of NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a table, and an umbrella which they will sell and retain as start-off capital for restocking. NASCON’s relationship with the community is very cordial and peaceful, she said.
At other times, the Company had carried out other different educational trainings in four different categories for nominated residents.
After the recent unfortunate incident of a gas explosion that claimed many lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira, the company showed concern and took several of the victims to hospitals at different locations in Lagos. They also met with victims of the explosion to seek ways of providing succor to them by handing out some of their products to restart sustenance life.
Dr Y.O.A Adesina, the Biagba of Alayabiagba Town said, “NASCON is our company, it is my company and as the Baale of Alayabiagba Town, they’re God’s gift. This is also an opportunity for me and the community especially for the indigenes of Apapa-Alayabiagba Town and Ajeromi ifelodun local government of Lagos state as a whole”.
He explained further, “We used to have Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC) there. That’s the only place we have a company apart from the Federal Govt Press owned by the government.
NASCON is the only company in our community that we can run to and the organization will assist us very well each time we need them.
Their response to our demand is good and we promote them as our company, we do not allow any embarrassment on them from any quarter either in the aspect of security because we watch for them and other areas they need us.
Alhaji Abubakar Musa is the CDA Chairman of the Alayabiagba community and he has this to say about, NASCON Allied Industries Plc. “They have been our good guests for some years and we received them warmly since they came to our Community. They have always had our support which they have reciprocated by coming to our assistance anytime there’s an emergency or projects to execute.
For instance, they sank boreholes and sponsored our children in various skills acquisition programs. We quite appreciate their good gestures and our relationship with the organization is simply cordial”, he noted.
Mrs Kayode Risikat, a 45-year-old beneficiary of the 40 Women Empowerment by the Organisation, could not explain her excitement. She said, “God will reward the organization because the empowerment helped my financial life and business which is growing now.
Animahis Biliksu, another beneficiary of the empowered 40 women and committee Chairperson of the four-man committee on the water projects in the community, said the empowerment boosted her business footing. She went further to thank the company and prayed for God’s continuous blessings on them.
Osho Bolaji was not left out in the eulogies for NASCON. A former CDA Chairman of Alayabiagba, he said the Community will never regret knowing or hosting the organization on their soil because they have made themselves part of our community.” They were quick to come to our aid during the recent gas explosion incident. They have been good to our community”, he said.
