Chikezie Ifedobi is the producer if Ijenu, the documentary movie that chronicled the life of late ace highlife musician Celestine Ukwu. He studied Archeology at University of Nigeria Nsukka.
The bug to begin to document “nostalgic stories” on video bit him so hard while at school but he did not immediately submit to the call until the past decade.
He first started by producing a video documentary of the history of his alma mater; UNN, a task that saw him traversing Nigeria to meet with the many surviving people associated with UNN from first students to first registrars, first lecturers to past and present VCs and even GEN Yakubu Gowon Ph.d, head of state during its rebirth after the civil war amongst many others.
Not long after the premiering of that documentary, Ifedobi got on the march again this time to tell the tale of the life and times of highlife music maestro Celestine Ukwu through the eyes, ears and voices of those who knew him.
He has also run round Nigeria meeting with people because according to him, nothing should be left untouched in order to correct the many tales. He did not want to hear ooh…..this and that person should have been interviewed.
A preview of IJENU , a story of life and times of Celestine Ukwu is planned for May 6, 2025 in Enugu at the yearly Celestine Ukwu Memorial Symposium tagged; when music meets philosophy.
Distinguished Nigerians are expected at the occasion, in which Emeritus Professor T Uzodinma Nwala, founder of Alaigbo Development Foundation, is expected to deliver the keynote lecture.
