Latest efforts to make healthcare accessible to the vulnerable in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area by the Council boss, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo have been applauded by the constituents as he announced the launch of OKELASHMA, a pioneering initiative offering free health insurance to 1200 vulnerable individuals under the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) ILERA EKO scheme.
Nzeh Henry, a businessman at Odunade market describing it as laudable said politicians should extend the gesture to nonpoliticians and allow it to go around.
This groundbreaking program aims to address the healthcare challenges faced by vulnerable people in Lagos State, ensuring they receive quality medical attention without financial burdens. Mayor Okeowo’s generosity will cover the health insurance premiums for 1200 beneficiaries, granting them access to comprehensive healthcare services across various ILERA EKO participating facilities.
“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of our citizens,” said Mayor Okeowo. “We recognize that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, and we’re dedicated to making it a reality for our most vulnerable populations. I’m thrilled to partner with LASHMA on this impactful project.”
Engr Tunde Omojuwa, a former Supervisory Councilor for Works and Chairmanship aspirant praised the initiative and said he cannot wait to see it launched as it is going to be one of the flagship projects of the government.
