The 6th Legislative Council of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the leadership of Hon Ilesanmi Elijah Oluwatosin has issued a security advisory to residents ahead of the yuletide season, urging heightened vigilance, stronger community cooperation, and reinforced security measures across the area.
In a communiqué released after its recent sitting, the Council expressed concern over the prevailing security climate in the country, warning that rising criminal activities demand increased alertness at the community level. The lawmakers stressed that the safety and well-being of residents remain a top priority as the festive period approaches, noting that “it is the living that celebrate seasons.”
The Legislative Council disclosed that it has formally notified all security formations within the LCDA including the Ifelodun Security Corps, Community Development Associations (CDAs), the Baales and the Community Development Committee (CDC) requesting intensified surveillance, intelligence sharing, and proactive patrols throughout the celebrations. The Council said enhanced collaboration among these structures is essential to preventing security breaches and ensuring peace.
Residents were urged to report suspicious movements or activities promptly and to cooperate fully with security personnel and community safety structures working to protect lives and property. The Council noted that communal vigilance and responsible conduct will play a crucial role in maintaining peace during the holidays.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the 6th Legislative Council pledged continued support for security agencies as part of efforts to guarantee a safe and harmonious yuletide for all residents of Ifelodun LCDA.
The Deputy leader and Councilor representing ward G, Hon Jide Adekola Sarumi added that the Councilors collectively wished all constituents a safe, Joyful and peaceful festive season, while expressing optimism for a more prosperous year ahead.
