Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have charged newly inaugurated Local Government Area (LGA) and Ward executives of the party to sustain unity and harmony as they prepare for future electoral responsibilities.
Delivering the message of the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Dr. Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Mr.Ayinde Bolaji, commended party leaders in the area for demonstrating uncommon unity in recent party processes.
He cited the seamless compilation of the party’s councillorship candidates’ list, which, according to him, was jointly agreed upon by party leaders before being forwarded to the state leadership and returned without any alteration.
Bolaji noted that similar unity was demonstrated during the compilation of the Local Government Executives list and the Supervisory Councillors’ nominations, which were also returned by the state leadership exactly as submitted.
He contrasted the development with situations in some other areas where disagreements and disputes have delayed party processes.
“While some areas are still locked in arguments and disagreements, our own process has remained peaceful. This shows that nothing can be compared to peace and harmony because they are the foundation for development,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, a party chieftain and former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo, advised the newly sworn-in executives to treat every position within the party structure with importance and dedication.
Taiwo, who also
represented Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, cautioned against dismissing positions such as Ex-Officio as insignificant.
“Every position in the party structure is important. For instance, the position of Ex-Officio is often misunderstood, yet it simply means Executive Officer of the party,” he explained.
He urged the new executives to take their responsibilities seriously and begin grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“In whatever capacity you have been given to serve, work diligently. I also urge you to return to the field to begin repositioning political influence in preparation for the major task ahead in 2027,” Taiwo said.
Similarly, Hon. Adeleye Sulaimon Adelaja, Vice Chairman of the APC in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency and Secretary of the party in Ifelodun LCDA, charged the newly inaugurated Ward Chairmen to proceed with the swearing-in of their ward executives without delay.
Adelaja directed that the ward-level inauguration should take place on Thursday to ensure that party structures are fully operational ahead of future engagements.
Responding on behalf of the ward chairmen, Alhaji Sule Ijoba Olaiyan, elected as the “Chair of Chair,” expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them by party leaders.
He assured that the ward chairmen would not take the opportunity for granted and pledged their commitment to strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
“With today’s inauguration of the newly elected executives of our great party at both the LGA and ward levels, the journey for the task ahead has begun, and we will not relent until we deliver victory for our party,” he said.
Olaiyan also expressed confidence in the strength of the party’s membership in the council area, noting that Ifelodun LCDA alone has more than 150,000 registered and eligible party members.
He said the mobilisation of such a large membership base would significantly boost the party’s electoral prospects.
“Imagine what will happen when these members are mobilised during elections and they, in turn, mobilise their friends and families to vote. The results will surpass any previous electoral figures recorded in this local government,” he said.
The ward chairmen, he added, are determined to justify the trust placed in them and deliver results that will reflect in the party’s performance in the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the Apex Leader of the party and Head of the G17 in the area, Hon Taiwo Adenekan, was inexplicably absent, but the Secretary of the G17 political group represented the Apex leader and declined to comment at the event.
