The All Progressives Congress party Chairman in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government, Chief Sam Adeyemi has attributed attitudes to farming as the cause of the perceived hunger in every quarter of the country.
The party boss blamed the hunger in the land for the lazy attitudes of Nigerians towards farming. He pointed out that, “the president or governor cannot leave governance and go to farm to give citizens food that is why government has chosen to do food palliatives”.
For him, it is just sad that the North that is ready to farm is being disturbed by banditry and Boko Haram.
He commended the President’s recent marching order on the governors to pay more attention to farming to reduce drastically the hunger in the land.
Concerning the Igbo groups in the party in Ajeromi, the APC chairman categorically stated that nobody has dissolved the Igbo group as rumored, rather there has been continuous disagreement between them, unlike the North Central which has one group, the entire Arewa has one group, as well as South /South group that also have one group.
.The above-mentioned groups are non-Yoruba groups but the Igbos have about five different groups and they have been asked to go and harmonize themselves into one group. They should be able to organize elections for themselves and choose their leadership as nobody will do that for them.
“Imagine coming to tell us that they have suspended their leader that won an election and we told them that it is not a cultural group, but a political group as our party has a running constitution. Our party holds her election every four years so why would their group in APC hold their election now”.
“They equally went to Baba Oluwa too and Baba told them the same thing; to go and unite themselves. There cannot be about four groups of one tribe: Igbos in APC, Igbo Community in APC and Igbo Coalition, etc”, he pointed out.
The APC leadership simply told them that “we do not want that kind of thing in our local government and subsequently they have had several meetings with Baba Oluwa and yet they couldn’t agree among themselves”.
