Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa Announces ₦20,000 Cash Relief for 250 Senior Citizens in Ajeromi-Ifelodun

Lagos — In a move aimed at easing the burden of economic hardship on elderly residents, Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa (SAO), member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency II, has announced plans to splash the sum of Twenty thousand naira relief package for 250 senior citizens in the constituency.

According to a statement from his media office, each beneficiary, aged 60 and above, will receive ₦20,000. The distribution is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Council Secretariat.

Hon. Oluwa said the initiative was part of his commitment to supporting the welfare of vulnerable groups, particularly senior citizens who often face unique challenges in difficult economic times.

“This initiative is an expression of love and care for our senior citizens, It is our responsibility to support them and ease their burdens,” a statement from the lawmaker’s office said.

Residents welcomed the announcement, describing it as a timely gesture. Community leaders noted that many elderly people in the area struggle with rising costs of food, healthcare, and basic necessities.

“This will go a long way in helping some of our aged parents who have no steady source of income,” one community member said.

The relief program is the latest in a series of interventions by Hon. Oluwa, who has previously rolled out empowerment initiatives and welfare schemes for youths, women, and other vulnerable groups in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.

Observers say such gestures underscore the growing role of constituency-focused programs in cushioning the effects of inflation and economic pressures on ordinary citizens.

The event on September 4 is expected to draw beneficiaries, family members, and local leaders, marking another milestone in constituency-level social support.
