Residents of Ajeromi Local Government Area, constituency 02 have applauded Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and their representative at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa, for ongoing developmental projects in the constituency.
At the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting and Community Engagement, themed “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda”, participants commended Hon. Oluwa for his performance in office over the past two years, while also presenting fresh demands for more government interventions.
Speaking at the event, Nurudeen Olaitan praised the lawmaker for “good representation.” Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), through its chairman, described Hon. Oluwa as “a working representative” but requested the provision of teachers’ quarters and a staff bus to ease transportation challenges for non-resident teachers.
Community leader and former chairman of Apena Street, Marshall Udoh, lauded Hon. Oluwa for delivering democratic dividends but appealed for the tarring of Apena Street, which he noted is a state road, as well as the installation of a transformer.
Rafiu Oga, General Secretary of the Market Association, urged the lawmaker to extend development projects to markets, requesting solar-powered lights, boreholes, and empowerment programmes for traders.
The most dramatic appeal came from Kareem Fashina, a constituent from Ward F, who went on his knees to beg for government attention to Ajasa, Mustafa, and Alaka streets. He lamented that despite strong support for the ruling APC in his community, they have yet to benefit from appointments or visible government projects.
In his keynote address, Hon. Oluwa explained that the annual stakeholders’ meeting provides an opportunity for lawmakers to account for their stewardship and engage directly with constituents. He noted that last year’s edition focused on food security, while this year’s theme aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Reeling out his scorecard, Hon. Oluwa highlighted projects such as the dualisation of Ojo Road to Boundary Market, rehabilitation of major roads through the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, and the near-complete reconstruction of the Tolu School Complex, which will house a vocational centre, sports complex, fire station, and health centre. He also noted the facilitation of transformers for Bolaji Kehinde Street, Ayetoro, and Alayabiagba communities.
Through his personal SAO Foundation, he added, more than 1,000 JAMB forms have been purchased for students, scholarships awarded, and financial assistance provided to families and senior citizens.
“You entrusted me with your mandate at the House of Assembly through an unprecedented landslide victory. Today’s event is an opportunity to take feedback and give a true account of my stewardship,” Hon. Oluwa said.
He pledged continued commitment to the constituency, urging residents to sustain their support for the party to achieve more.
The event was attended by political leaders, including Apex leader and GAC member Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and other dignitaries.
