Comrade Monday Inarhe, other Seamen canvass for re-election of Pastor Avoseh as Chief Officer of MWUN Branch

The task at hand among the  Seamen branch of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, members is the agenda to re-elect the person of Pastor Sunday Segbenu Avoseh as  Chief Officer of the branch.

This, according to Comrade Monday Inarhe, is evidence of how much the members value Comrade Avoseh as their boss. He revealed that the election will afford the seafarers the opportunity to celebrate a happier this year’s Seafarers Day in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

This will also be another feather in the cap of the new administration of Francis Bunu, MWUN 001, the Chief Officer of the union; therefore, all seafarers are expected to be part of the epoch-making event.

The election billed for June 26th in Port Harcourt, Rivers State,  is expected to attract many stakeholders, most of whom believe that Comrade Sunday Avoseh deserves a second term, going by his current achievements. His record still speaks for him in the Lagos Seaman Union.

Inarhe noted that Comrade Avoseh’s achievements are not surprising to most people who know his antecedents coming from the Sewanu Compound in Badagry, Lagos State.

His words, “Avoseh is rated as number one, which in the Ship ranking means an assistant to the captain of the ship led by PG 001 Francis Bunu.

“Avoseh is still seen by many as a transformer who brought many changes to the union, including bringing to standard the salaries of seafarers”.

The Seamen District Organising Secretary, Comrade Alao Olaitan, further explained that it’s on record that this same branch produced the President General, in the person of Francis Bunu, who Prince Adewale Adeyanju and other notable Comrades, including Pastor Avoseh, facilitated. It was Avoseh who announced Bunu as the best

Candidate for Seafarers during the Branch Working Committee(BWC) meeting to select who will be the Next PG in the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria in 2023.

Though Comrade Avoseh may have had the ambition of being the PG, he believes he has a boss in Comrade Bunu who could do the job; moreover, he (Avoseh) was yet to complete his tenure at the branch.

Goodnews Hephzibah Sarah, a District officer, in her remarks explains more: “Pastor Avoseh is a hardworking officer in the maritime union; he is spiritually filled, and he has foresight. He is a quintessential and exceptional officer in the seamen department. He brought light into the system from being a liability to stakeholders, especially the Lagos State branch.

“A disciplinarian who is loved by many, he is an organized leader who has been able to reorganize the Union in a more effective way and for greater heights.

Comrade Monday Inarhe further said, “Comrade Avoseh is a seafarer’s pilot, who knows the pains of the grassroots because he started there. As a president, his intention was clear, and his negotiation was attractive to the companies.

“When I come to CBA in companies which we know that signing an agreement with the company would not be that easy, like that, it is a gradual process. But our dearest president has been taking it from one company to the other”.

He would do more in his second term, and therefore, he deserves it for the good of the entire seafaring community. IT IS SOLIDARITY TIME
