CAF increases women’s AFCON prize money by 45%

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a substantial increase in the prize money for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The winning team will now receive double the previous amount, leading to a 45% overall increase in the total prize money for the competition.

Here’s a detailed look at the new prize structure:

  • Champions: $1,000,000
  • Runners-up: $500,000
  • Third Place: $350,000
  • Fourth Place: $300,000
  • Quarter-finalists (4 teams): $200,000 each
  • Teams finishing third in their group: $150,000
  • Teams finishing fourth in their group (3 teams): $125,000 each

This increase provides a significant boost to the Super Falcons of Nigeria, who stand to win ₦1.6 billion if they achieve their goal.
