Cable thieves in police net

Operatives of Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested eight suspected cable thieves and recovered over 100-meters-long armored cable from one of the suspects in Igbo Efon, Lekki.  

 The suspects, Kamalu Mohammed ‘m’ aged 32, Usman Lawal ‘m’ aged 33, Ibrahim Salisu ‘m’ aged 22, Hassan Salisu ‘m’ aged 20, Zulkiful Sani ‘m’ aged 23, Umar Haruna ‘m’ age 26 and Amadu Muazu ‘m’ aged 22, claimed that they were driven to the site of Ikeja Electric plc. in Anthony Village by a man simply named ‘Alhaji’. 

Recovered from the gang were two diggers, three shovels, two iron cut saw, one saw blade and one bosch professional roller. Further investigation led to the arrest of the last suspect, Nasir Lawal ‘m’ aged 30 with over 100-meters-long cable believed to have been stolen at a construction site around Igbo Efon, Lekki, Lagos. All eight suspects have been charged to court

Meanwhile the Lagos State Police Command, on Wednesday, arrested a man for vandalizing bridge railings. The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on his Twitter Page on Thursday.

Hundeyin disclosed that a motorist informed the police of the activity of the vandal in Carter Bridge. He added that investigations were still ongoing. 

“At about 3:15 am yesterday, a motorist informed the police of a vandal on Carter Bridge. Officers from Ebute-ero police division swiftly moved in and caught Mastru Mutairu ‘m’ aged 30 actively vandalizing bridge railings. He took to his heels but was arrested.” the PPRO tweeted
