Hon Azeez Ogidan, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Coker-Aguda LCDA, in the July 12, 2025, Lagos Local Government election, has been conferred with a Chieftaincy title of Nwanne di na Mba 1 of Ndi Igbo in Lagos, courtesy of the Ozioma Palace.
In an event packaged by the Igbos in APC at Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area, meant to bridge up Igbos in the area, who pledged to massively mobilize themselves for the party’s victory in the forthcoming local government election.
Receiving the title, the politician said, the chieftaincy conferment shows the acceptance of the Ndi Igbo of the political sagacity in Lagos State. Adding that he has a strong belief that this will also translate to massive votes from them. The Chairmanship candidate also assured them that his government will carry them along if voted into power.
The event attracted the front line Apex leaders of Igbos in APC Lagos, including the Agbalanze of Nnewi, Engr Joe Igbokwe (Apex leader), the State Chairman of Igbos in APC, Chief Chris Ekwilo JP, -‘Anya Ndi Igbo(Eyes of the Igbos) in Lagos and the President General of Igbo speaking in Lagos Chief Sunday Udeh. Others are the President General Senior Bakers in Nigeria, Engr. Onuorah Emmanuel, the President General of Market leaders, Chief F.C. Obih, Hon Chief Mrs Ngozi Chinwuko JP (Adaife), the APC Lagos State Executive Member, and President of Golden Ladies of Ozioma Palace, and Barr Obby Onu, the woman leader of Ndi Igbo in APC Lagos State, amongst others.
Chief Ekwilo described the new Igbo Chief as lucky for having all the state excos and Coker Aguda LCDA excos of Ndi Igbo in APC in attendance. According to him, it shows they are the ones who will go into the nooks and crannies of the local council development area to mobilize the Igbos to vote during Saturday’s local government election.
Chief Ekwilo further assured Hon Azeez Ogidan and his entourage that the Igbos will work to give him the needed victory, but they wouldn’t want to be left out in sharing the dividends of democracy.
Engr. Joe Igbokwe said the event is a landmark as the Igbos no longer associate with the Labour Party again, that is why they are moving round the 57 local government areas and LCDAs of Lagos to show forth their support.
The Igbo leader said it is quite insulting for the North to have finished their eight-year tenure and would not allow the South to complete their turn of eight years
He declared that the new dynamics going round in Southern Nigeria presently, as a result, is that the South East, South-South, and South West are in the same boat now because they understand the politics. “We will come together to defeat them; this time, we will play the politics”, Igbokwe boasted.
He urged the Igbos to go and work because the party wants to see the figures, while also assuring the new Igbo Chief Azeez Ogidan, that he has already won the election.
The first Eze-Igbo in Lagos, Eze Igbo Surulere, Eze Dr Sir Jossy Egwuatu, who conferred the chieftaincy title on the chairmanship candidate, had prayed that Hon Azeez Ogidan would emerge victorious at the Saturday polls
Chief Ogidan ( Nwanne di na mba) appreciated the Igbos for the chieftaincy gesture, especially for Engr Joe Igbokwe, whom he said had done well since following the progressives in Lagos.
He assured Eze Jossy and his cabinet that he would not be far from their palace.
Barr. Princess Oby Onu commended Eze Jossy for the good messages he carries and thanked Hon. Azeez Ogidan, whom she described as a child of destiny, for his emergence as the APC candidate.

Others are: Chief Chima Akomas,’ Aka na eme Eze,’ Igbo Speaking/ Cabinet Chairman, Ozioma Palace, Surulere, and Chief Ken Duru – Special Adviser, Igbo Speaking / Cabinet Secretary, Ozioma Palace.
Other guests include the Golden ladies from Ozioma Palace, who added a lot of colours to the event with hard-working leader Hon Chief Mrs Ngozi Chinwuko JP (Adaife) and Chief Dandy Nkoku
