Aj Lawyer, Musa Rufai Ahmed, Among 131 Sworn In as Notaries Public in Lagos

Prominent Ajegunle-based legal practitioner, Bar. Musa Rufai Ahmed, Esq., has been appointed a Notary Public, following the swearing-in of 131 lawyers by the judiciary at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.

The oath-taking ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, was conducted at the office of the Chief Judge, High Court of Justice, Ikeja, on behalf of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, in accordance with the provisions of the Notaries Public Act, 2023.

Bar. Ahmed, widely regarded as one of Ajegunle city’s finest lawyers, was among the Lagos-based legal practitioners who met all statutory requirements for the professional elevation, including the payment of prescribed fees and fulfillment of procedural obligations.

The appointment was conveyed through a formal instrument issued by the Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, authorising the administration of the oath to the listed lawyers. The CJN’s letter confirmed that the beneficiaries were duly qualified and directed that completed oath forms be returned for official record-keeping in the oath book.

The conferment of the Notary Public status empowers the Bar. Ahmed and other appointees to authenticate legal documents, administer oaths, and perform notarial acts recognised under Nigerian law, functions considered vital to the administration of justice and commercial transactions.

Reacting to the development, Bar. Ahmed expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as a significant milestone in his legal career and a call to higher professional responsibility and service to the public.

The appointment further reinforces Bar. Ahmed’s standing within the Ajegunle legal community underscores the growing contribution of practitioners from the area to the legal profession in Lagos State and beyond.
