The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its Legacy Support Group in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilization ahead of future electoral activities.
Speaking at the maiden inauguration, the Lagos State Vice Chairman 1, in charge of Lagos West Senatorial District of ADC, Dr. Ochie Emmanuel kene, said the support group initiative would be replicated across the 10 local governments in the senatorial district and subsequently extended to other parts of the state before spreading to other regions of the country.
He explained that the Legacy Support Group serves as a complementary structure to the party, designed to accommodate supporters who may not be registered party members but are willing to contribute to its growth.

According to him, “This is the first inauguration of the Legacy Support Group, starting from Ajeromi-Ifelodun. From here, we will move to other local governments, and within the next two months, we expect the group to be fully inaugurated across Lagos State.”
Dr. Ochie noted that the support group would draw membership from diverse social and political backgrounds, including especially individuals who are non-partisan or from other political groups, professional circles, and community networks.
He added that, for inclusivity, existing party office holders would not occupy positions within the support group, thereby creating opportunities for broader participation and grassroots engagement.
While declining to disclose national coordinators of the group due to security considerations, he disclosed that the structure includes zonal leadership across the northern, southern, and eastern regions.
Expressing satisfaction with the turnout at Ajeromi’s inauguration, Dr. Ochie described the response as encouraging.
“I am impressed by the massive turnout today. It reflects the desire of the people for genuine change. Though every initiative must start from somewhere, Ajeromi-Ifelodun has taken the lead, and we believe this momentum will spread to other local governments,” he said.
Earlier, the ADC Chairman in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Hon. Patrick Chigoziem Madu, said the inauguration was part of preparations toward strengthening party structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that the forum would serve as a mobilization platform to rally support for the party and its candidates.
“We are putting our house in order to support credible candidates that will emerge on the ADC platform. Nigerians are yearning for change, and this group will help us reach more people at the grassroots,” Madu said.
Also speaking, the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Coordinator of the Legacy Support Group, Dr. Dominic Opara, expressed readiness to lead the mobilization drive, describing the assignment as challenging but achievable.
He said the group had already commenced grassroots engagement and would intensify efforts in the coming weeks despite prevailing political pressures.
Party leaders at the event expressed confidence in ADC’s growing influence within the local government, citing increasing membership and participation.
ADC chieftain, Hon. Chief Frank Ukor, described the party as a credible opposition force, expressing optimism about its prospects in future elections.
Some members of the new group also spoke, pledging commitment to the initiative while urging transparency and inclusive leadership from the executives.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a statewide rollout of the ADC Legacy Support Group, aimed at expanding the party’s grassroots network and strengthening its mobilization capacity.
Hon. Chux Obum urged the newly inaugurated executives to maintain transparency and honesty in their dealings with members, stressing that trust and openness would be critical to the group’s success.
In his remarks, the Apex Leader of the group, Chief Ajiwe, expressed optimism about the group’s prospects, noting that the ADC had already established a strong presence in Ajeromi-Ifelodun within a short period. He added that the party was poised to surpass expectations, assuring supporters that the era of complacent leadership and electoral compromise experienced in some former parties would not be tolerated within the group.
