The national association of herbal medicine employers, [NAHME], has called on the police to assist them in their bid to stop the activities of fake and unregistered herbal medicine operators.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police and signed by the association’s secretary Oduyori Francis, the association said it’s their responsibility to ensure that members adhere to all necessary ethical standards. The association, it added; is concerned about increase in the number of fake herbal medicine operators which is rubbing off negatively on the credibility of the genuine members. They letter called for police back –up, as they will soon embark on ‘operation clampdown’ to flush out fake operators.
The letter reads, ‘’ it has become so alarming, the rise in the numerical strength of fake and unregistered herbal medicine dealers nationwide. This unethical act, if not promptly and proactively checked will cause serious harm to the society health wise.
Being one of our primary functions, it is imperative that these bad eggs and other unscrupulous elements are detected and flushed out of the society and their activities punctuated to safeguard the lives of the citizens who are mostly relying on herbal means for the treatment of their ailments.
With a view to accomplishing this objective, we intend to commence ‘Operation Clampdown’ on these fake and unregistered herbal dealers; hence, this notification is dispatched to your office for the purpose of subscribing for your consent.
