What was meant to be one of Nigeria’s most glamorous celebrity weddings has taken an unexpected twist after controversial singer Portable publicly rejected TikTok sensation Peller’s invitation, accusing the social media star of disrespect and insisting he must be paid before attending.
The wedding of popular content creators Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and Amadou Elizabeth (Jarvis) has dominated social media in recent weeks following the release of their pre-wedding photographs and successful traditional introduction ceremony in Benin City.
The highly anticipated ceremony, fixed for August 1, 2026, is expected to attract about 400 carefully selected guests, including top entertainers, influencers, and business personalities.
The event has already generated widespread conversation because of its exclusive admission policy. The couple’s official Aso-Ebi reportedly doubles as the entry pass, with packages selling for ₦350,000, ₦700,000, and ₦1 million, making it one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year.
Several high-profile personalities have reportedly been lined up for the event, including Cubana Chief Priest, Priscilla Ojo, Juma Jux, Naira Marley, and controversial singer Portable.
However, what appeared to be another celebrity endorsement quickly turned into a social media showdown after Peller reached out to Portable with a personal appeal.
In a video that has since gone viral, Peller pleaded with the singer, saying:
“Omolalomi, we’re especially inviting you to our wedding. We need someone like you in our wedding because you’re a star.”
Instead of accepting the invitation, Portable launched into a fiery response, claiming he deserved far more respect than receiving a direct message.
“You’re a spoilt child. Is it not you, Habeeb, that I built? I was among the people who posted you so people could know you. Normally, you and your wife are supposed to bring the cloth to my house and specially invite me as the father-in-law. I’m your elder brother,” he said.
The self-acclaimed “Street King” also insisted that his presence at any event comes at a cost.
“Number two, if you want me there, I’m a superstar, a musician. Use money to call me. August 1, me sef get show wey them don pay money, so should I now come to your wedding for free?” he queried.
Portable then took another swipe at the wedding itself, mocking the couple’s Aso-Ebi arrangements.
“Your wedding also looks like a political rally, like a protest. Both sane and insane people will be there because you’re now selling the Aso-Ebi for both normal and abnormal people.
“Normally, you’re supposed to sell the cloth for rich people, but now you’ve started selling it for mad people. So, I don’t understand you.”
Still dissatisfied, the singer described the manner of invitation as disrespectful.
“Use money to call me. Is it through phone that you will invite me? If I want to give you a cow now, will you collect it through phone? That’s disrespectful.”
Portable’s remarks have since divided social media, with some users backing his demand for proper respect and compensation, while others accused him of turning a goodwill invitation into another public controversy.
With only days left before the wedding, the clash has added fresh drama to what is already shaping up to be one of the biggest celebrity events of 2026, leaving fans wondering whether the “Zazuu” crooner will eventually make a surprise appearance—or stay away unless, in his own words, they “use money call me.”
