Constituents and political stakeholders in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have urged leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to recognise and reward the long-standing loyalty and contributions of legal practitioner and party stalwart, Barrister Tajudeen Amusa.
The appeal came during the 20th Annual Ramadan Lecture organised by the Barrister Tajudeen Amusa Foundation at Ojo Road in Ifelodun LCDA, where party members, community leaders, and residents gathered to listen to Islamic teachings and reflect on issues affecting society and politics.
The event featured two lectures delivered by clerics from Layeni Central Mosque and the Araromi Apapa Muslim community. The first lecture, titled “Waqf: Renewed Hope for Mankind,” examined the Islamic concept of charitable endowment as a tool for social development. At the same time, the second focused on “The 2027 Elections: The Roles of Muslims,” urging the faithful to participate responsibly in democratic processes.
Speaking at the event, a resident of Ifelodun Ward A, Gafar Yusuf Oleyelogun, said Barrister Amusa deserves recognition for his steadfast commitment to the APC and the community over the years.
According to him, Amusa has remained loyal to the party for decades despite receiving no political appointment or recognition.
“I have been involved in politics for about 28 years, and I sincerely feel for Barrister Tajudeen Amusa,” Oleyelogun said. “He has consistently supported the party and its members, even funding activities from his personal resources. Since he began contesting elections in 2014, he has continued to invest his time, energy, and finances in the party without any form of reward, not even a board membership.”
He added that the situation had once discouraged him personally, stressing that party leaders should take a closer look at individuals like Amusa who have demonstrated unwavering loyalty.
Also speaking, Alhaja Titilola Inyinkaye, an APC woman leader from Ward B who has lived in Ifelodun for more than three decades, described Amusa as a compassionate and generous individual whose contributions to the community have been remarkable.
“Barrister Amusa is a man with a good heart. He spends his personal resources to assist people and support political activities,” she said. “Even this annual Ramadan lecture is funded from his personal earnings, through which he distributes food, clothes, and cash to the less privileged. I pray that God rewards him with good health, long life, and opportunities to serve the people in public office.”
Similarly, Alhaja Mojerola Aiyelabowo, a Ward D resident who has been active in local politics for over 12 years, said Amusa has remained a dependable supporter of the community.
“He provides legal assistance to many people and supports others financially. Despite contesting elections several times without success, he continues to give back to society. Every Ramadan, he reaches out to the indigent with food items, clothing, and financial support,” she said.
In his brief remarks, Barrister Amusa expressed gratitude to God for life, strength, and sustenance, while urging the gathering to offer prayers for the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, whom he noted rose from a humble background along Ojo Road.
He also solicited prayers for his son, Jelili Olamide Amusa, who was recently called to the Nigerian Bar.
Amusa further called for prayers for political leaders in the area, including Hon. Lukman Sa’ad Olumoh, Hon. Dr. Olufemi Okeowo, Hon. Wahab Adigun, and Hon. Fatai Ajidagba, asking for divine guidance and success in their leadership roles.
Barrister Tajudeen Amusa also used the occasion to urge guests and party faithful to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, calling on Nigerians to give the President a second term in office to consolidate and complete the reforms and development initiatives already underway across the country.
Among dignitaries present at the event were Hon. Tunde Balogun, APC Chieftain and leader, Alhaji Rasheed Adedayo, popularly called Pepper, Alhaja Fausat Ranti Ilori, AMCO, Boladek, Seriki Bai Yar Musa, and members of Layeni Central Mosque, among others.
