A political support group under the aegis of the Ambode Comeback Crusaders has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) to support the return of former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ibidapo Ambode, to office.

In an open letter addressed to state and national leaders of the APC and members of the GAC, the group’s leader, Abiodun S. Fashola, urged the party hierarchy to grant Ambode the opportunity to seek a second term, citing his “visionary leadership and developmental achievements” during his 2015–2019 tenure.
The letter, titled “Request for Support to Re-Elect His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ibidapo Ambode,” praised the former governor’s record in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and environmental reform, describing his administration as “transformative” and “pivotal to Lagos State’s continued growth.”
According to Fashola, Ambode’s administration embarked on landmark infrastructure projects, including major road expansions and transit improvements that eased traffic congestion and enhanced connectivity across the state. He also highlighted Ambode’s contributions to education through school rehabilitation, teacher training, and scholarship programmes.
“In healthcare, the establishment of the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme and the upgrade of general hospitals provided affordable access to quality medical services,” the letter stated. “Ambode’s Cleaner Lagos Initiative also revolutionised waste management and promoted environmental sustainability.”
Fashola further noted that the former governor’s financial prudence strengthened the state’s revenue base, attracted foreign investment, and created job opportunities for Lagos youth.
“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria grants Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode the right to seek a second term in office,” the letter read. “This constitutional right should be respected, and he should be allowed to continue his transformative agenda for the benefit of all Lagosians.”
Fashola appealed to the APC leadership and the Governor’s Advisory Council to consider Ambode’s “unwavering commitment to the people” and support his re-election bid as a means of consolidating on past achievements and ensuring continuity in governance.
The Ambode Comeback Crusaders operates under the Akinwunmi Ambode Grassroots Development Initiative, a non-governmental organisation advocating for grassroots empowerment and political inclusivity in Lagos State.
