As part of his contribution towards ensuring that the younger generation are empowered through education, the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, recently presented 250 free GCE forms to indigent students and youths within the community.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Ajose revealed that the initiative is expected to open more doors of opportunities for the student as, nurture their talents and ensure that no young person in Olorunda LCDA is denied access to quality education due to financial constraints.
His words, ” Education remains the surest path to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a brighter future. That is why as your Chairman, I am committed to supporting our students and empowering them to succeed in their academic pursuits. By the special grace of God, we are today presenting 250 free GCE forms to students whose parents, for one reason or the other, are financially incapacitated.
” This gesture is a demonstration of our administration’s commitment to educational support and to ensuring that no child is left behind because of economic challenges”.
He said the initiative underscores the administration’s vision to prioritize education, reduce inequality, and invest in the future leaders of Olorunda LCDA.
Noting that today’s opportunity for the students is by grace and not by privilege, as many other students were still outside wishing for such a chance. The council boss recalled that during his school days, there was no such intervention.
Hon Kumayon announced a paradigm shift through the introduction of a “feedback mechanism”, under which the Education Department will maintain a database of all beneficiaries of the free forms and track their academic performances. He further assured that the education of the best three candidates will be fully sponsored by the Local Government.
The chairman reiterated his vision of raising more lawyers, medical doctors, engineers, pharmacists, accountants and other professionals from Olorunda LCDA, declaring that “Greater Olorunda begins with you from today.” He also encouraged the students to maximize the numerous opportunities available on the Internet, stressing that education remains the bedrock of civilization.
” As we distribute these forms, I strongly adminish you to shun examination malpractices, hooliganism, cultism, thuggery and all other social vices. We believe in you, and we trust that you will justify this investment by achieving excellent results. Remember, the sacrifice you make today will determine the opportunities you enjoy tomorrow”. He advised.
The Head of Department, Education, Mrs. Idowu Bunmi Onasile, in her welcome address, urged the free GCE forms beneficiaries to count themselves fortunate that the chairman, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, places a high premium on education. She advised them not to misuse the golden opportunity given to them, stressing that when they succeed, they will in turn become responsible citizens and good leaders of Olorunda LCDA.

The Education Consultant, Mr. Henry Akinbibola, CEO, AKFOLHEM Consultancy, while addressing the candidates, said that during the recent Education Stakeholders’ Engagement, the JAMB/UTME Registrar, Prof. Ishiaq Oloyede, emphasized that henceforth, there will be no more combination of NECO and WAEC results for admission purposes.
Mr. Akinbibola stressed that Nigeria now operates with an up-to-date educational database and that the success of every candidate begins with registration through the biometric system. He added that the GCE examinations will henceforth consist of both objective and theory papers.
He further urged the beneficiaries to rise and appreciate the Executive Chairman for this laudable gesture. Noting that they are indeed privileged, as each GCE form costs ₦40,000, and today, the Chairman is distributing 250 forms—a remarkable feat.
Mr. Henry Akinbibola also requested assurance from the candidates that their least grade will be B3 when the results are released. He advised the students that what is crucial to success in examinations is mastering technicality and effective time management. He encouraged them to always bear in mind that one day they too could become Council Chairmen or Commissioners.

The vote of thanks was delivered on behalf of the beneficiaries by Rafiu Adenike Alimot, who expressed deep appreciation for the life-changing opportunity.
