Hon Feyi Abiodun Samson Oyeniyi, is an accomplished businessman,
journalist by training, and politician. He has a first degree in
Philosophy from the University of Lagos; Akoka, Lagos, he is also a
diplomat, under another master’s degree in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies from UNILAG, he is an economic development strategist.
Presently he is working with Hon Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, PhD, a
member of the House of Representatives, representing Ajeromi /Ifelodun
Federal Constituency, who has just completed his one year in office.
Oyeniyi believes that judging from the good works of his principal; it
is very obvious that he will win a second term as the representative
of his people at the National Assembly.
According to him, Kalejaiye has ordered his team to make him more
accessible to his people so that he can get to meet them anytime they
want to see him and he believes that this move will help bring the
the lawmaker further closer to the people.
He however dispatched with a wave of the hand the notion that the
people in the last one year have not benefitted from his
representation.
“Well, let my reaction be on record that everything has to do with
perspectives according to Yoruba saying that the door is two-sided,
if one sees from the inside and the other from the outside, they will have
different views. People interpret things according to their
perspectives, the way they see things, so I will not say that those
who say he has not performed very well are wrong but it depends on
their points, perspectives, and what they expect.
For example, recently on our old students’ journalism platform,
somebody said that politicians are unbelievably corrupt; my
question to him was how and when politicians become corrupt and bad.
You now see that it has to do with perspectives and because we expect
too much from them, many people are disappointed by the little
they get because that little is given to so many people for it to go
around. So how does one aggregate a politician that is good or not bad
and this also depends on how many people you are reaching out to? So,
if the people are expecting something huge and you have 100
persons that got something little, what do you expect him to do? He
has tried using the resources available to him,’’ he noted.
Citing a perspective of an ambitious constituent, Oyeniyi said,” Someone wrote a letter for assistance and as the Head of Administration at the constituency office, the letter comes to my table, the letter says the writer’s mother is sick and he needed to settle some hospital bills and he calculated everything to be N1.3M and he wrote he expected the MHR to give him N3M and my minute to the letter to the Hon was that the writer needed financial assistance to pay the hospital bill for the mother and the MHR approved a certain amount but not the N3M that he solicited for.
Yet another letter at that period asking for financial assistance for his wedding and the MHR approved another sum for him too, do not forget that the MHR is also human and has a source, if what he has is limited, he can also do within his reach”.
Presently, Hon Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul PhD is doing the Lighting up Ajegunle project, bringing in solar-powered lights all over the place, he is also thinking of an
empowerment program which is expected to come up shortly.
He recently did a palliative for almost about 4000 persons where he
gave out foodstuffs and cash gifts and of course other people who asked for
help received and he is still ready to assist.
Oyeniyi said people judge the lawmaker from afar, which is why they
believe that he is not approachable or accessible as he also advised
people not to judge a book by its cover rather they should get closer
to the person before concluding anything on that person.
“Yes, he is not perfect, he may have helped some people, and yet other
people may have found him offensive, but I can assure you that
Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, PhD, has some good intentions and he is
always ready to help. As a teacher, they are always disciplinarians and
their principles are always different, but if you are courageous and
approach a tough teacher and he knows you want knowledge, he will
gladly grant you knowledge and that is the way I see Kalejaiye Adeboye
.So as the Head of Administration who sees all, keeps records about
activities of the Constituency office in the past one year, I can tell
you that with my very close relationship with the immediate past
member of the House of Representatives Hon Kolawole Musbau Taiwo and
as an ardent follower of the Late Hon Segun Ogunbanjo, and Taiwo Adenekan
both former members of the Green Chambers, I can tell you that they
all did their best but Ajeromi /Ifelodun Federal Constituency, never
had a better House of Representatives member than now.
Are we talking about recognizing Ajegunle, hearing the voice of our
representative, talking about belonging to the high and mighty in
the House of Representatives, Hon Kalejaiye is top-notch. He is the
first politician in our constituency to earn a PhD and apart from
working to better the lives of others in the Constituency, he is also
working to better his own life by educating himself.
I am sure, if we want to be sincere without any form of bias, everybody
that is intelligent and sensible within Ajegunle would know that
Ajegunle is in the global knowledge now unlike before and for me,
Kalejaiye Adeboye is a first timer, I scored him 90% and I know if he
has another chance; within the second year of his second term,
everybody would agree to the fact that none of our past representative
can be compared to him’’, he boasted.
